We’ve already talked about the types of standard attacks a character can use. However, each character also has four different special moves!

If you don’t press any directions while pressing the special move button, you’ll perform a standard special move.

Normal special moves are often projectiles or strong, chargeable attacks and these are usually the calling card of the character. Also, note that if you use a normal special move with the Smash Ball, you’ll use your Final Smash.

Holding Left or Right while pushing the special move button results in a side special move

Many of these moves cause your character to dash forward. Some of these could come in very handy for horizontal recovery.

If Up and the special move button are pressed, you’ll do an up special.

Up special moves usually help you recover horizontally or vertically.

Lastly, pressing Down and the special move button will cause you to use a down special move.

The down special move is the most varied, it’s often a defensive attack but it can also be a move that changes your character’s other moves.

Of course, the examples given here aren’t always the case; every character’s moves are unique!

The possibilities are endless!
