Lakitu hails from the Mario series, and is best known for disturbing Mario’s quests by throwing spiked eggs at him.

He’s taken a break from throwing shells to perform his more helpful role from the Mario Kart games.

He just floats nearby?

Lakitu will stay near you until you fall too far downward. When this happens, he’ll use his hook to lend a helping hand.

Another chance!

He’ll only be able to help you out if you fall towards the bottom of the stage, though. If you get hit off the top or sides, you’ll still be in some trouble.
